House Rules
Don't get upset — bet on the upset. Since 2001.
How It Works
- Pick every game. Choose a winner in all of the week's matchups.
- Every team has a price. The best team in a division is worth 1 point. The worst is worth 4.
- You earn what you picked. Pick a winner, bank that team's value. Pick wrong, get nothing.
- Picks close at first kickoff. The whole week locks the moment the opening game starts — automatically.
- Scores post themselves. Results come straight from the live scoreboard as games end.
Why Upsets Win
Picking chalk is safe and nearly worthless. The whole game is knowing which bad team is about to steal one.
| Pick the 1-seed, it wins | 1 |
| Pick the 2-seed, it wins | 2 |
| Pick the 3-seed, it wins | 3 |
| Pick the worst team, it wins | 4 |
Go 4-for-4 on favourites and take 4 points. Hit two upsets and take 8. Half the accuracy, twice the score.
The Fine Print
- Miss the lock, score zero. No late picks, no exceptions, no "my phone died."
- Ties pay nobody. Nobody won the game; nobody wins the points.
- Values freeze when you pick. A pick is worth what it was worth the day you made it — later ranking changes can't touch it.
- Everyone's picks go public at lock. Click any name on the leaderboard after kickoff and study your enemies.
Playoffs & Super Bowl
The stakes climb when the field narrows:
- Surviving teams are re-ranked 1 through 7.
- The Super Bowl is worth 10 points per team.
Which means nobody is safe until the last whistle — a cold streak in January can still be erased in February.
The Pot
Everyone puts in $20 at the start of the season.
1st
60% of the pot + the Drunken Football Master Trophy
2nd
30% of the pot + the DFM Medallion
3rd
10% of the pot
Last place: the honour of buying yourself exactly one beer from your local grocery store, opening it, and drinking it alone as a memento of your achievement. 🍺
